AUD tests the audit and attest process from start to finish: ethics, professional responsibilities and general principles; assessing risk and planning the engagement; performing procedures and gathering evidence; and forming conclusions and reporting. It covers audits of public and private companies as well as reviews, compilations and other attestation engagements.
AUD is a 4-hour exam with multiple-choice questions and simulations each worth 50% of your score, and 75 is passing. As a Core section, AUD is available year-round in 2026.
AUD is hard in a different way from FAR. There’s little math, but the questions are long and wordy and often have two or more answers that look right: the Audit exam tests whether you know which standard applies and what the auditor should do first. Candidates with audit experience usually find it more intuitive. If you’ve never worked on an audit, i75 Audit is designed perfectly for you to learn secrets and tricks along with the process and vocabulary.
Most candidates plan roughly 80 to 120 study hours for AUD, about 8 to 12 weeks at 10 to 15 hours a week. Aim for the higher end if you haven’t worked in audit.

Start by identifying the audit concept and the exact task in the question. Separate the facts that affect the answer from the background, then predict the appropriate response before reading the choices.
Evaluate every part of each option. A choice may begin with a true statement but reach the wrong conclusion. For example, when assessed risk of material misstatement is high, increasing acceptable detection risk does not fit the response needed to maintain audit risk at an appropriately low level.
During review:
Explain why the correct answer fits.
Identify which words or assumptions make each alternative wrong.
Ask what would need to change for a different answer to become appropriate.
Some options need more than a one-word fix; understanding the reason matters most. Use this exercise on challenging questions and correct guesses. Save detailed rewriting for review rather than timed practice.
